Default Major Chord Voicings

If have some questions regarding the "Major 7th Chords" of the "Piano Chords Vol. 1" lesson.

In the handout (see p. 2 in the DVD701-702_handout.pdf file):

1) I can see why Chord 12 would be called CMajor7Sharp11 (since there isn't a 9th), but shouldn't Chord 11 be called CMajor9Sharp11 (as is Chord 4)?

2) Why are Chords 16 and 18 called CMajor79 whereas Chord 3 is called CMajor9?

I could go on...

I suspect that the answer might be that it doesn't really matter. If so, some consistency would sure help us beginners - especially those of us that are engineers.
