Hi Willie,
I am concerned that you have abandoned the Jazz Lesson aspect of your course to concentrate on the "Gospel/Jazz" program that is now available at an additional price.
As premium members, I think we should have access to all the lessons you create.

Thanks,
Wayne

Hi Wayne,

Thanks for your email. I have NOT forgotten about JazzPianoLessons.com. In fact, I am working on new DVDs that will come out in April for JazzPianoLessons.com.

I want to take a moment to explain why I decided to start new sites with individual memberships.

I have spoken with several students over the past two years and I use it as an opportunity to gauge their interest in what I am working on. I knew for a while that I wanted to do a Gospel site (now JazzGospelPiano.com) and a funk site (now FunkPianoLessons.com) but I wasn't sure what was the best way to set them up.

Several students mentioned to me that they were not interested in Funk or Gospel, only Jazz. I was also concerned since the name JAZZpianolessons implies Jazz. If I were to branch out too far from Jazz, that might discourage students.

Most of all though, at some point I would need to raise the price of a JazzPianoLessons.com membership if I was adding what is now the content at FPL and JGP.

I did not want to do this, so I decided to create individual sites. This gives you the student the ability to choose the direction that most suits your needs.

Let me make a few points:

I have not stopped developing new content for JPL
There will soon be a GOLD plan that will let you subscribe to all of my sites
You have the option of subscribing to JGP for $9.99 right now
I do not want to raise prices for anyone

I hope that this clears this up. There will be many more lessons added to the JPL site over the year. There will also be new sites (like Latin) that will brach out and allow interested students new vehicles for creativity and study.

Thanks Wayne.

Hi Willie,
$9.99 for what? Is that a monthly rate? I really enjoy your lessons but, I think, that the Jazz, Gospel, Funk memberships are making membership rather convoluted. If I were you, I would put access to all your lessons under a "one price point" type of membership so a member doesn't get a "suprise" learning he can't access your newer lessons. That seems to be what is happening now. I know you have created new gospel lessons and I can't access them because I belong to jazzpiano lessons.
Please don't make being a member more difficult. For us older guys, it gets confusing and being on a fixed income may become too pricey when my 1 year subscription becomes due.
I might want to look at jazz one day and gospel or funk the next. And I do think that you have neglected the jazz lessons devoting time to your Gospel program.
This is just "one man's opinion" so thanks for listening and keep up the good work.

Thanks for your input Wayne.

Well, as I said, there will be a GOLD membership that will give you access to all of my sites. I am still setting it up and it will be available when I get back from vacation during the week of April 20th.

The reason that there are different sites are exactly for what you mentioned: fixed income. Obviously to get access to everything that I have done will cost more. Some people who are on a fixed income want to only test one site for a lower cost. So, I want to make that option available to them.

If you want access to everything, I will have an upgrade process so that you can signup for the GOLD plan and get access to it all.

I'll send out an email to everyone when it is ready. There will also be a new JPL lesson this month so I ask for your patience.

I see that the GOLD membership has arrived. I have a question about upgrading: If I currently about halfway through my yearly subscription, and I upgrade to the Gold membership, what happens to the remaining months in my current subscription, for which I've already paid? Should I wait until my subscription is up before upgrading? Will I miss out on the 20% off sale if I do?

Thanks in advance, and thanks for the great site!

Hi ekassel,

Yes, the GOLD membership discount is only valid until July 27th, 2009.

If you want to upgrade, just email us at jazzsupport@jazzedge.com (mailto:jazzsupport@jazzedge.com).

Now, if you already have a subscription, we will pro-rate that subscription so that you do not lose any of the money that you have paid.

We need to do this manually, so please email us to set this up for you.
