I'm trying to figure out the classic blues riff made famous in "Hoochie Coochie Man," Muddy Waters, but heard everywhere. For instance in "I Don't Know," Blues Brothers, and "I'm A Woman," Koko Taylor.

What I hear is; Root=>3rd=>Root=>flatted 3rd=>Root

Is this correct?

Thank you.

There are couple of classic muddy blues breaks from Hoochie Coochie Man or Mannish Boy here:

Try,

Root - 4th - Root - 3rd/Flat 3rd (try both) - Root.

&

Root - Flat 3rd - Root - Flat 3rd - 4th

Hope this helps.
