I just wanted to express my delight at seeing the CHESTNUTS lesson. It is a beautiful piece and has been supported with every possible learning tool, Left-hand, Right-Hand, Finished piece, Sheet Music, and the Lesson broken down section by section on the videos. I consider this the perfect lesson. Thank You Willie for this great lesson.

Now, having said that ... LOL ...

I am a ways from being able to play something like that anytime soon, so ...

What I am suggesting, for beginners like myself, is that if you could put some little short pieces together much as you did on the JazzKids product and support them with the same tools as CHESTNUTS, that would be terrific. That would give the beginners (meaning me) something to play leading up to things like Chestnuts.

Just an idea ...

Anyway, Willie, you are doing a great job here ... Keep it up

First, thanks!

Now...I need some clarification.

Do you mean make a simple song and re-harmonize it?

Please elaborate some more so I understand you.

Well, since you asked ....:)

Begin by giving us a leadsheet (melody and chords) and then take us through reharmonizing with part 1, part 2, etc .... that are short enough so we could try our hand at it and then watch the video to see what you might have done.
Keep it as simple and basic as possible.

This issue I am trying to address is this ...

When I am presented with a leadsheet, there is an almost endless possibility of ways to combine left-hand accompaniment with base lines, rhythms, & chords along with adding harmonizing notes in the right-hand. I guess I am looking for a sort of cookbook approach to the process of arranging things.
Right now, I pretty much just mimic what you or someone else tells me to do but I would like to be able to put together my own renditions of some of these pieces.

Any help you can come up with would be great.

OK, now I understand.

I totally agree with this approach. Let me work some stuff out for you.
