Just in case you haven't seen, the Rock lessons are now coming online.

Here is my schedule:

1) Rock Basics -- (online now)
2) Billy Joel's "Piano Man" (shooting for before September)
3) Jerry Lee Lewis "Great Balls of Fire" -- Sept (no melody, chords, improv??...we'll see)
4) Elton John's "Your Song" -- Sept (no melody, it will be chords and improv techniques)
5) Open to suggestions! Fill our form here: http://www.mylessonclub.com/students/lessons/lesson-request

I know that the lack of communication about the Rock site was frustrating. We will be better about that. If you have not done so already, please subscribe to my twitter feed here:

Hi Willie,

I'm thinking with Christmas right around the corner,(as far as piano practice time is concerned).
Perhaps, a lesson on Nutrocker is ready to hit the airwaves.

This is pretty neat. Would anyone else be interested in Nutrocker?

Hi Willie,

I really don't know if it qualifies as a a rock song, but, Night Train crossed from Jazz into Rock. Particularly between the late fifties to early sixties.
Oscar peterson's versions were really cruel and cool. He might have even wrote the song. But when the sax players got a hold of it with the early rock bands, it really took off. Could you maybe do a lesson on Night Train. It has alot of jamming potential.

Hey Charlie, "Night Train" was written by Jimmy Forrest in 1951. His recording of this tune was number 1 in the R & B charts in 1952.

Hey Ray, thank you for the info. I went over to amazon and got it. Great tune, but I believe I got it wrong. It was the piano players that got a hold of it. A sax player wrote it.

Charlie
P.S. No offense meant to sax players.

GREAT to see some Elton John showing up! He has so many wonderful songs, it's hard to decide which ones to choose.

I was listening to Van Morrison's "Moondance" today and there's some really nice piano on that...the whole tune was interpreted very jazzy though.
