Chord Progressions

I am working on "A Laid Back Sunday Afternoon" which is a great tune!! I do understand the basics of chord theory - the modes, the 2-5-1s, etc., but I start to get lost when you refer to the 5-7 of 2, or the 5-7 of 1. I think I know what you mean, but I don't know how to derive the 2s, 3s, 5s, etc. except from the one. I don't know if this is explained on any of your videos and I expect this to be a complicated subject. If not on a video, and too much to explain here, is there a resource you could provide that I could reference?
