Can anyone advise best fingering for B flat blues scale? Should it follow the 1234 123(1) pattern suggested generally (eg in DVD100) or is better to use another fingering eg 123 1234(1)?
thanks

Hi Jon,
That is a great question. The answer, either works. It really depends on what is comfortable for you. Personally, I usually do not ever go down or up the blues scale more than an octave anyway. I am usually pulling notes to create phrases, so the cross with the thumb never becomes an issue.
I would usually just shift the scale to suit an easier fingering.
For example:
Db-Bb-Ab-F-E-Eb-Db-Bb and finger it like:
4 - 3 - 2 - 1-4 -3- 2- 1
