Hello
I was wondering if anyone uses VST plugins through a laptop/amp? I have a Yamaha NP-30 and a friend gave me a heap of VST plugins to run through a program called Fruity Loops (don't know if anyone has heard or used it before). Anyway, the plugins sound great (Clavi sounds, Rhodes and Wulitzer and a B4 organ) as you can hear them through the FL program but I'm having trouble conecting the keyboard and the laptop. The drivers for the keyboard install fine and the FL program recognises a MIDI controller (I used a MIDI to USB cable) but after that nothing much happens. I'm a bit new to the technical stuff so I just wondered if anyone had any advice.
Thanks for any help.

I've tried the demos of TruePianos and Pianoteq with my Roland HP203 and they sound really great. I have USB on piano so I used USB to USB. If FL finds the midi controller it sounds like everything should be ok? I have an old laptop so I had to install an AISO driver. I found a general AISO driver on the internet since my soundcard didn't have one.

http://www.asio4all.com/

The AISO driver becomes active(small icon down at the toolbar) when I run any of the Pianosoftware if I remeber correctly.

Thanks for tip on Fruity Loops. Gonna check it out.

Hey thanks for the tips!

These are some VST plugins i was talking about

Clavi
http://www.bigtickaudio.com/bigtick/home
You have to sign up, it's free, and the clavi VST plugin is called Tickyclav

Minimoog
http://www.home.no/gunnare/downloads.htm
This is a moog VST plugin. It depends what you're into music wise but i like haha, it is quite good fun.

My friend got the B4 organ and the Wulitzer and Rhodes piano ones from rapid share. I can let you know what they're called.

Thanks again

Hi Stjohn,

1) have you turn off the Local Control of your keyboard?

If you haven't, your keyboard continues to play its internal voices, because its internal tone generator does not respond to MIDI information received via the MIDI IN terminal.

In your Owner's Manual you may check something like "Local Control On/Off"

2) Sometimes there are conflicts among the plug-in, the Asio drivers, the Audio drivers and so on.

For example for some months I used Pianoteq and TruePianos and I had no problem, except sometimes a strong noise, that I could solve resetting my PC: I could play my keyboard, play some playalong, listen to Video lessons etc.
After reinstalling Windows XP that noise problem disappeared, but now... I cannot hear my keyboard *and* my Pc together. Don't ask me why. :-)

Hope this helps.

Are you using Apple?
I am unable to play MIDI files - I get a request to install an old version of QuickTime player.
Let me know what program/plugin you are using.
