Recently I've been playing funk using different keyboard sounds and thought it might make for an interesting funk lesson. Specifically, comparing funk approaches on a Rhodes, Wurly, Clav, Electric Piano, and maybe Organ. The Rhodes sound is probably my most favorite and I find it interesting how I have to play it differently than a regular piano for example when playing funk music.

Thus, I thought it would make for an interesting topic to compare various "funk" keyboard sounds and how one would approach them differently to create funk music. For example, how might chord voicings differ and which "funk" principles mentioned in earlier lessons work best for each particular sound.

Or perhaps, just some lessons using a Rhodes Piano exclusively. Many of the Funk greats have used the Rhodes and I know it remains a popular "sound" in today's funky jazz music. In fact I was on a "LearnJazzPiano" forum this week and noticed a bunch of people discussing resources on how to approach the Rhodes in Funk and Jazz. Lately Clavia, Yamaha, Fender, and Korg etc. are all attempting to release Stage Pianos with effective Rhodes, Wurly, and Clav sounds, a trend perhaps? Not sure, but fascinating to discuss I think.

Thanks!

Jim

OopS! I just noticed I may have posted this in the wrong forum. Sorry! I think this should be in New Lessons.
