Hi Willie,

You have done some really great standards lessons and of course as somebody who is interested in playing and learning jazz this is fantastic for me.

I have found on occasions when I have dared to play in public that people will ask for things that are a bit more familiar to them. "Can you do Beatles/Billy Joel/Elton John/whatever"?

I know you said you are going to have a site for rock piano, which is great and I will sign up for that as soon as it is available. I assume that will be just what it says - playing rock music in a rock style.

I have an interest in taking pop/rock tunes and playing them in more of a jazz style.
(Sorry, this is becoming a really long-winded request).
What I would like to be able to do is be able to take a pop tune lead sheet and make it sound more "jazzy". You played a bit of "piano man" i think on one of the podcasts and of course it sounded great. Could you take a familiar pop song (your choice) and take us through how to make a jazz style arrangement from it? Because most standards were written in the 30's and 40's it would be nice to have something to put in the repertoire that is more contemporary. I particularly like the idea of taking a song that might not at first be thought of as lending itself to jazz and giving it a jazz treatment.

Best Regards,
Nick

Hi Willlie,

I, too, have and strong interest in jazzing up tunes from Beatles, Billy Joel, etc. There might be lots of interest in this.

Thanks for the new lessons just added.
