Wille,
Man, these rootless chord voicings really open up your mind and your playing. I have 20+ years of playing root/fifth (with or without arpeggios) in the LH and grabbing as many chord tones in the RH as I can. Learning them will be the easy part--implementing them will take many, many months or years.
The major and minor sevenths are fairly straight forward, so my main question is regarding the dom7. I know there are three "in" sounding and three "outside." My main question is are there specific situations when the "outside" voicings work best? For example, Is one voicing (in or out) better to start with than another? Which one makes a hip plagal candence? Which one(s) are more suited for minor? Which one is the "bluesy-ist"? Stuff like that...
Well, I think a bad day in the studio beats a good day in the office, so I hope you had a good session.
Thanks for your time,
Mark
