If you're new to a lot of this like me, then implementing these lessons in real life is slow and sparse--a chord here, one there and ever once-in-a-while a technique applied. Well, I've found that the song "Moondance" by Van Morrison is a great tune for practicing and implementing many of the techniques found on this website. The whole first section is only A-7 B-7 over and over and the rest of the song is pretty easy (i.e. light on the chords) too. Easy to comp, easy to try out quartal voicings, easy to make bass lines, and even improvising isn't that hard. Scales like A minor pentatonic or A dorian work great and are fairly easy even if adding in chromatic approaches, etc.
Anyway, just thought I'd pass on the info. This song has been a big help to my practice and confidence. I can actually get though the entire piece and not just a small section of a few measures here and there. Hopefully this can help someone else too.
I don't think it's in the RealBook, but it is in "Just Classic Rock Real Book" published by Alfred Publishing.
Musically yours,
Mark
