Willie: I know that this is a gospel only site... however I am trying to expand my style by listening to other artists as well. Dianna Krall is one of my favorites and she does a lick in a song "Making Whoopy" that I find very intriguing. I have attached the segment as a zipped MP3. In it she does what I have sort of figured as a descending play on chromatic 9ths? (3-6-9's) (about 3/4 of the way into the segment) Would this be accurate or is there some other kind of explanation? Thank so much for taking the time to check this out.
