Willie,

I have made a first pass through all your lick development that you took apart in "Summertime".

In a word "Fantastic"!! Though it did get a little confusing, watching how you develop licks was very instructive as you did it in real time.

What I especially came away with was what you have always talked about in your other lessons - doing approaches from above and below and paying attention to what target tone you are working towards.

I also see use of rhythm variety - and frequent use of Triplets.

You also have talked about leaving "space". I see some of that, but in general there are a lot of 8th note phrases.

Again, Thank you for this lesson that several of us have been asking for regarding licks. I have a LOT of work to do to get this into my playing!!

Thanks Bill.

Yes a lot of 8th note lines. Also, I came up with a cool idea today while playing at church. Fills can be broken down into rhythmic blocks making it easier to create fills that work toward a target. I am going to work this into a lesson.
